A Montana rancher was charged with illegally selling offspring from a cloned sheep across state lines. There's nothing illegal about selling sheep for exorbitant prices — unless those animals are Marco Polo argali sheep, or in Schubarth's case, hybrids of Marco Polo argali sheep. Marco Polo argali sheep are native to central Asia and are considered threatened under the US Endangered Species Act. Shortly thereafter, Schubarth allegedly got his hands on some of those sheep parts and, in 2015, paid a deposit of $4,200 to produce cloned sheep embryos from the dead argali's remains. (AP) — A truck hauling zebras and camels for a series of weekend circus performances caught fire early Saturday on a northeastern Indiana highway, prompting a police rescue of the animals, which roamed along the freeway, some munching on grass. The tractor-trailer caught fire about 2 a.m. along Interstate 69 in Grant County and a state trooper, a Grant County Sheriff's deputy and a third person rescued the five zebras, four camels and a miniature horse by leading them off the smoked-filled trailer, said Sgt. The Grant County Sheriff's Office posted photos and videos on Facebook of camels walking on the highway and later standing along its shoulder and its median with zebras and law enforcement officers. A video showing two clips of truck convoys are unrelated to the October 2023 Israel-Hamas war, contrary to claims made online that the footage depicts an Egyptian convoy reaching the Gaza border. However, both clips are at least a year old and do not depict current events from the Israel-Hamas war. The Rafah border crossing between Egypt and Gaza, the only direct pathway to Gaza outside of Israel, is heavily restricted. The second clip was filmed as early as Jan. 10, 2022, according to videos posted to TikTok of the same event. Tyre markings on the desert sand correspond with the clip posted on X.

GENEVA, July 24 (Reuters) - A 28-year-old man has tested positive for the potentially fatal Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) in a city in Abu Dhabi on the border with Oman, the World Health Organization said on Monday. The man in the city of Al Ain was admitted to hospital last month, the WHO said in a statement. The WHO said there were no signs the man had come into contact with dromedary camels, which spread the disease that is separate from COVID-19. The United Arab Emirates' health ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the case. The UAE, a hub for international events, will host the United Nations Climate Change Conference in November and December.
